Electro Swing Roundup – April ’15

Swingamajig 2015

Happy April Fools Day! Festival season is round the corner and in the Swing scene nothing announces it better than the highlight of the year, the biggest festival going – Swingamajig in Birmingham. The lineup is once again next level – just check out the poster above, and if you fancy checking me out I’ll be doing my Silver Screen Soundsystem VJ show in the early hours of the morning. Find out more at Swingamjig or on their facebook.

Right. Let’s hit the music.

Great start with this freebie from those Flatcap boys:

New version of Sing Sing Sing:

Thanks to Emma Clair for inviting me to join them in Manchester for Prohibition last week. When not organising her own nights she’s been busy putting this nice freebie together:

Been loving this. Great vocal, big horns and free!

Also up from F-Block… this is sounding funky too.

New Releases

Electro Swing Club – Vol.2

There a new compilation of quality electro swing on the way from Pashmount Music. It’s not released until the 26th of April so until then you’re have to content yourself with listening online. My favourites are these two:

Grant Lazlo – Alibi Afternoon

France’s Grant Lazlo is back with a new EP of summery sounds. Here’s Alibi Afternoon from it and the whole EP is available from Juno on the 3rd of April.

The Gaslight Troubadours – The Devil Swings Out

New out on Green Queen is this slice of goodness mixing deep bass with a steampunk vocal. Available from Juno.

Thomas Vent – Tramp

For those of you who like your music delivered with the sonic equivalent of a kick to the head Thomas Vent has combined bluesy riffs with a bass heavy dance floor intensity that puts most other glitch hop to shame. Available from Juno.

Caro Emerald – Pack Up The Louie (Caravan Palace Remix)

Here’s the big hitters. Over 100,000 listens already! Well done Caro and Caravan Palace. Get it from iTunes.

Incontrol & Wolfgang Lohr – Charleston

Smooth swing from the Ton Liebt Klang boys. Available at Beatport.

Algorythmik – Savannah

Algorythmik have left the swinging beats to go on safari. Mixing up the animals of the savannah with an incisive glitch hop stampede has led to this unusual EP. Here’s a couple of tracks from it and get it from here.

Swing Ninjas – Do Ya Hallelujah?

Out on Freshly Squeezed is this classic sounding swing album. Available from iTunes.

DJ Mixes

In preparation for Swingamajig the C@ In The H@ has put this tasty mix together:

Fancy hearing what Cab Canaveral sounds like with live sax? I thought you did…

That’s it. See you in a month! If you’ve got anything you’d like included in future roundups hit me up on soundcloud.
