Ed Solo & Skool of Thought – Random Acts of Kindness

Ed Solo & Skool of Thought - Random Acts of Kindness

Memorable albums in breakbeat are few and far between with ‘A Plump Night Out‘, Hybrids ‘Wide Angle‘, Evil Nine’s ‘You Can Be Special Too‘, Ils ‘Soul Trader‘ and  The Rogue Element’s ‘Rogue Rock‘ the only ones that come mid. (Disclaimer: Other Breakbeat albums are available and may well be worth a mention :p) Ed Solo & Skool Of Thought’s 2007 debut collaborative LP is right up there with the best though. It was released at the very peak of breakbeats history with so many different styles and flavours being thrown successfully into the mix. This album melds reggae, breaks, D&B, mid tempo, bass, dubstep and even acoustic guitar into an almost perfect long player which really does work as a listening experience as much as each track works in the club/bar/home stereo. This is a real piece of history that every self respecting breaker should already have in their collection. If you don’t though, Lloyd Skool Of Thought has decided it’s time to be a free download.

Highlights have to include the uplifting summertime vibes of ‘Love Your Life’ with Darrison on vocal duties, ‘We Play The Music’ again with Darrison on the mic and JFB supplying the cuts and the Pablo Gad/Prodigy sampling vibes of  ‘When I Was A Yout’ which is proven to destroy soundsystems at the first drop.

Get on this asap and play the music loud! Show some love on the Skool Of Thought Soundcloud and Facebook.
